Active Protection System Performance Model

OptiMetrics System Performance Model (OSPM) is a small-unit effectiveness model that provides a high-resolution representation of the timelines and effectiveness of active protection systems. OSPM incorporates a representation of traditional aspects of combat systems including:

  • Combat vehicles and terrain (mobility)
  • Sensors, obscurants, and environment (target acquisition)
  • Lethal mechanisms and armor (accuracy, lethality, vulnerability)

The model also contains a detailed representation of active protection systems:

  • Component modeling
    • Warning receivers
    • Decision aids
    • Countermeasures (Hard-kill, Soft-kill, Tactical)
  • Engineering modeling

Applications:

  • APS component optimization studies
  • Compare various types of APS Systems
  • Evaluate multiple vehicle and multiple threat engagements
  • Develop CONOPS
